AMAC Swimmers Improve by more than 27 minutes at home invitational!
AMAC swimmers had a combined improvement of over 27 minutes at our home Kinsmen Invitational, November 21-22. Our 60 swimmers put forth a great effort with almost 300 best times matched only by the efforts of our AMAC parents in hosting a terrific meet.
Our team had a really exciting weekend with swimmers making huge improvements in stroke technique, fitness and racing resulting in an astounding 1640 seconds of total improvement spread amongst 283 best time swims. Our top 10 improvers all made at least 1 minute total improvement.

NEW QUALIFIERS
We had two new swimmers qualify for national level competitions with Adam Batten making his first Western Canadian Championships qualifying time and Taylor Andrew making her first Age National time (12 yo), each in the 800 free. Adam is AMAC's youngest ever, male qualifier for Westerns and dropped 28 seconds splitting a steller 4:29/4:30 - 8:59.27. The time is an AMAC club record for 13-14 & open age groups and Adam currently ranks #2 in Canada for 14 yo boys. Taylor improved by 12 seconds, negative splitting her swim 5:06/5:02. Taylor also set a new 11-12 club record and jumped to #2 in Canada for 11 yo girls! Congratulations!
RECORD BREAKERS
We had 11 new club records, 9 individual and 2 relay. In addition to the aforementioned records, Adam B added the 13-14 boys 400 free record, knocking 8 seconds off his own mark to 4:21.75. Jessica Wong set club records for 13-14 girls in the 100 Fly (1:05.70) and 200 IM (2:24.12) bettering her own record on each occasion. Tianna Rissling set a 15-17 & open girls record in the 100 IM (1:05.02) improving on her own mark. She bettered Kristyn Flanagan's best in the 15-17 girls 100 fly with a new record of 1:05.37. The 13-14 Girls were super fast in the 200 Free and Medley relays and destroyed the club records in each. The team of Bailey Sloan, Jessica W, Sydney Lee & Cathy Zwicker dropped over 2 seconds in the free relay (1:54.42). Cathy switched out with Celina Batsel on the medley relay and the combo dropped another 2 seconds there (2:09.88) The girls rank #7 in Canada in the free relay and #13 in medley relay.

RACING TO WIN
As we expect to at our home meets, we had boatloads of top 8 and top 3 swims. 14 AMAC swimmers won individual events; Caleb Lee continued his season long undefeated streak winning 7/7 events in the 10 & under boys age group. Meaghan Morter, Tianna Rissling & Jessica Wong each jst missed the 7/7 sweep with 6 wins and 1 second place apiece.
