Great Time Trial for AMAC Swimmers With New Western, Age National and Provincial Qualifiers
The Hiberna Vicis Tentatio on January 16 was a huge success with two new Western qualifiers, one new Age National Qualifier and three new A Provincial qualifiers. Along the way our swimmers added four new AMAC records.
Chloe Johnson and Amanda Andrew both qualified for Western Canadian Champs bringing our girls team up to seven swimmers. Chloe re-qualified in the 1500 Free with a 18:38.01 and Amanda made the 200 Back with a 2:28.52. Amanda is one of our youngest ever Western qualifiers, turning 13 just last week. Sydney Lee made her first 13 yo qualifying time for Age Group Nationals in the 1500 free dropping over a minute to 18:54.64. Kate Smith (50 Free), Catherine Greenwood (50 Free) and Kiera Stroh (1500 Free) all picked up new A standards in the 10 & under, 12 yo and 13 yo age groups respectively.
Our distance swimming not only added to our qualifier list but erased two of the oldest records on the AMAC record board. Taylor Andrew broke the second oldest AMAC girls record, knocking off the 11-12 1500 Free from 1991 with her 19:39.26 (Laurie Hughes - 19:58.03). Meaghan Morter improved on the 10 & under girls 800 Free record from 1997 with her 11:45.65 (K. Humphreys - 11:51.92). Matthew Crockford lowered his own record in the 13-14 boys 50 Breast with a 34.79 (34.95). Tianna Rissling also bettered her own club mark in the 15-17 girls 100 Fly with 1:04.90 (1:05.37).
Great Swimming AMAC!
